"Sir, how can I get a hotel job in Dubai?" Young hoteliers across India ask me this almost every week. Dubai's hotels are a big dream for many of my students, and rightly so, because Gulf experience can strengthen a hospitality career for years.
Sadly, I have also watched capable people lose money and confidence by trusting the wrong offer. For 18 years I have worked in hospitality, in hotels, as an educator in Dehradun, and today in recruitment for India, the Gulf and Europe. I was honoured with the Excellence in Hospitality Sector of Uttarakhand award in January 2023 by Shri Dhan Singh Rawat ji, and with the Uttarakhand Ratan Samman 2023 by Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari ji, former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and former Governor of Maharashtra. Safe careers are what I care about most, so this is the practical path I recommend.
Why Indian Hoteliers Choose Dubai
Dubai hosts a wide range of international hotel brands and guests from every corner of the world. You learn global service standards, high-volume operations and teamwork across cultures. Indian hospitality staff are respected for warmth, flexibility and hard work. The chance is genuine; you just need to approach it the right way.
Five Steps to a Dubai Hotel Job
Step 1: Target one clear position
Recruiters hire for specific roles. Choose what fits your experience: front office (receptionist, guest service agent, concierge), F&B service (waiter, host, bartender, banquets), kitchen (commis, demi chef de partie, chef de partie, pastry) or housekeeping (room attendant, public area, laundry). Freshers often become far stronger Gulf candidates after a year or two in a good Indian hotel.
Step 2: Prepare a short, verifiable CV
Put your target role at the top, then hotel names, departments, positions and exact dates. Add systems you know, your languages with an honest English level, and any guest feedback or awards you can prove. Keep your passport, experience letters, certificates and a professional photo ready.
Step 3: Get ready for the interview
Many Gulf hotel interviews happen on video calls or at walk-in drives in Indian cities. Prepare for questions on guest handling, upselling, grooming and multicultural teamwork. Dress as you would on duty, answer clearly in English, and ask about accommodation, transport and working hours.
Step 4: Check the offer carefully
A real offer follows a real interview and comes in writing, stating your role, salary, hours, accommodation, allowances, contract length and leave. UAE labour rules make the employer responsible for recruitment and visa costs, so any request for "visa fees" from you is a red flag. In India, licensed recruiting agents are registered with the Ministry of External Affairs, and you can verify them on the eMigrate portal. ECR passport holders also get emigration clearance through eMigrate.
Step 5: Look in the right places
Most scams start with random WhatsApp forwards. Use official hotel career pages, your placement cell and dedicated hospitality platforms. I built hospitalityvacancy.com so candidates can find hotel jobs in Dubai, the Gulf, India and Europe in one focused place.
Mistakes I See Often
- Paying an agent before any interview or written offer
- Signing a contract without reading it
- Sending one generic CV to every Gulf vacancy
- Exaggerating English or experience
- Resigning before the visa is confirmed
